The name Třemošná evolved from the word střemcha, i.e. 'bird cherry'. Třemošná is located about 5 kilometres west of Plzeň. It lies in the Plasy Uplands. The highest point is at 465 m above sea level. The Třemošná River flows through the town. The Bělá Stream joins the Třemošná in the western part of the municipal territory.
