It is difficult to say, depends on just how thorough you are in looking at and reading about the various exhibits. We are the sort that don't look at or read everything and we were in there for 3 hours looking at the Terracotta Warriors, Gallipoli and Maori exhibitions but honestly you could end up staying all day if you are thorough. We started at 10.00 when the Warriors opened.
My Wife and I are doing a cruise round New Zealand next year ,so we only get a day in each port .I suppose that all the cruises stop at the same ports of call. My question is what are the best places to visit ,we are in our 70's so nothing like hang gliding or that adventurous.

Personally I would advise Zealandia (nature reserve) and a visit to Weta workshops (this co does fabulous movie set work and the tour is great)
