Beardsley Zoo is a small zoo that has been upgrading the exhibits over the years. It's an enjoyable place to take time, stroll through, and watch the animals. The staff has always been accessible and… Full review by Ed W

I loved it! The animals were friendly, came out and were playful! We saw some adorable piglets, I kind of high-fived a monkey, and I got super close to a prairie dog. Overall, O loved and and would r… Full review by Jacob E

Unfortunately a few animals weren't on exhibit during this visit, and the butterfly building was closed. Not a bad zoo but it looks like some of the animals could have used more enrichment. The gift … Full review by Amanda O
In August, I'm a mom traveling via car with my 11 year old son to the Beardsley Zoo and safety is one of my key concerns whereever we go so I have questions that relate to that. Does the parking lot get terribly filled so it is hard to find a parking space inside the zoo? If so, what time of the day do you suggest to go to avoid parking aggravations? Also, if I park my car outside of the zoo, on the street, will it be safe? I'm trying to understand the demographics of the location so i can decide what to do. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.

Thank you for the question. We parked in the wrong area across from the zoo and there was not a problem. When we walked over across the parking lot there were many parking spots. There are also crossing guards when you enter the zoo area who will be able to assist you with parking. We walked around for approx 2 1/2 hours. There is a concession area along with a play area to rest. Families were there with children of all ages from babies to teens. I do not know the cost because on the third Fri. of the month up until Sept. AARP members can come to the zoo for free. They have to sign up on the AARP website along with their membership card number. Yes, you can bring food into the zoo. There are areas where you can sit and enjoy your meal. I don't believe you can put out a blanket and have that kind of picnic. There is an area with tables near the concession. I would check with the zoo to see if they have motorized wheelchairs or carts. We really enjoyed ourselves but being the weather was perfect also helped.
