New Delhi: In her first remarks after taking oath, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi hit out at the BJP on Saturday for hatching a "conspiracy" against her predecessor Arvind Kejriwal and urged the people of the capital to ensure that the AAP national convenor returns to the top post again after the Assembly polls due early next year.

A first-time legislator, Atishi is a key face of the party and managed AAP's operations during Arvind Kejriwal's time in Tihar jail in connection with the excise policy case.

Along with her, five other ministers of AAP were sworn in and will be part of Delhi’s cabinet. These include Saurabh Bharadwaj, Gopal Rai, Kailash Gehlot, Imran Hussain and Mukesh Ahlawat

Indian opposition leader Arvind Kejriwal picked Delhi minister Atishi to replace him as chief minister of the capital territory on Tuesday, allowing him to focus on winning a fresh mandate in elections due next year after getting bail in a graft case.

AAP leader Atishi, on Saturday, took oath and became the youngest Chief Minister of Delhi in the presence of AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal . Atishi also became the 17th woman to hold the post of chief minister in independent India.

AAP leader Atishi praised her mentor and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal in her first speech after taking charge as the Chief Minister of Delhi, saying that the only thing that they have to do now is to bring back Kejriwal to power.

New Delhi: Atishi was sworn in as Chief Minister along with five ministers on Saturday in a low-key function at the Lieutenant Governor’s office, days after Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the top post in a political move aimed at regaining ruling AAP’s perceived sliding fortunes.

The new Council of Ministers announced by AAP comprises Sultanpur Majra MLA Mukesh Ahlawat, a new entrant, besides ministers Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj and Imran Hussain.

As CM, Kejriwal did not have any portfolio assigned to him. However, AAP leaders said this was unlikely to be the case with Atishi.
