As a heat wave takes over a large portion of the country, many are bracing for muggy conditions, especially those nearby corn fields. The phenomenon known as “corn sweat” plays a huge role in dew points across the Corn Belt during heat waves.

As dangerously hot weather is set to blister over Chicago this week, a Midwest-centric term "corn sweat" is making its rounds yet again.

The summer months can be downright brutal as temperatures soar and humidity rises, but it can be even worse in the Midwest thanks to an unusual phenomenon known simply as "corn sweat."
