Authorities have identified the man shot by Covington police during an armed bank robbery Friday afternoon. Kentucky State Police said 62-year-old Charles Davis, of Covington, was shot by city officers after being seen fleeing the U.

At approximately 3 p.m., Covington police officers responded to the U.S. Bank on the 600 block of Madison Avenue for reports of a robbery where a gun was displayed, according to a release from the Covington Police Department. Officers encountered a man who matched the suspect's description less than a block from the bank.

Police said there was an officer-involved shooting in the 600 block of Madison Avenue, a popular area that includes Hotel Covington, multiple restaurants and shops.
