The transfer was agreed in March, alongside the signing of winger Geovany Quenda, who will move to Stamford Bridge at the end of the 2025-26 campaign. He will join Chelsea for the Club World Cup and is expected to back up Moises Caicedo.

Chelsea have confirmed that Dario Essugo has completed his move from Sporting and signed a deal that runs until 2033.
