Committee Democrats had planned to force a vote on a resolution calling for the public release of Epstein-related documents

Speaker Mike Johnson on Monday said he does not plan to allow votes on any measures related to the Jeffrey Epstein case in the House’s final week in Washington before a weekslong recess, despite intense pressure from some of his own GOP members to go on the record on the issue.

House Republicans have virtually stopped work on all major legislation leading up to their six-week summer recess to avoid taking votes on forcing the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. Why it matters: Democrats have been gleefully using every opportunity to force their GOP colleagues on the record about Epstein as President Trump pressures them to make the issue go away.
