Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore have been on the International Space Station for 15 weeks. They were only supposed to be there for eight days.

When NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore blasted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, back in June aboard the debut crewed flight of the Boeing Starliner spaceship, there was no reason to believe they’d be out of pocket for the November election.

Their stay at the International Space Station was supposed to last for eight days, but will instead last around eight months.

Texas first passed a law in 1997 that allows astronauts to vote if they will be in space during early voting and on Election Day.

It’s an entirely different kind of space age. Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams are stranded at the International Space Station until at least February due to their faulty Boeing craft — but there’s one upside to their extended adventure in orbit.
