With a strike set to start, King Soopers has released adjusted hours for some grocery stores in Colorado. Union workers plan to begin a two-week strike on Thursday morning across the Denver metro area.

Workers at several King Soopers locations in Colorado launched a strike against the Kroger-owned chain on Thursday, citing unfair labor practices. As previously reported, members of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 voted last month to stage a two-week strike as they continue to negotiate under an expired contract.

Union employees at two King Soopers stores in Pueblo will begin striking on Friday, though no strikes have yet been called in Colorado Springs, United Food and Commercial Workers International Union Local 7 announced.

Grocery workers at King Soopers across the Front Range will strike Thursday, the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 announced Monday morning.

After union members approved a strike, UFCW Local 7 said a two-week walkout will “allow everyone to understand our concerns.”

Members of UFCW Local 7 for Pueblo King Soopers are expected to start striking on Friday. There are two stores in Pueblo.

King Soopers grocery workers in the Denver metro area are going back on strike this week, three years after the 2022 strike.

King Soopers officials claim a labor union that represents its grocery workers is using "unchecked power to create uncertainty."

That includes stores throughout Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, and Jefferson counties as well as King Soopers stores in the cities of Boulder and Louisville.

After failed union negotiations with King Soopers, around 10,000 grocery store employees across the Denver metro and the Front Range are planning to strike on Thursday morning.
