The Met Office has issued an urgent update to a weather alert issued on Thursday. Thunderstorms are set to strike across a vast area of the country today with the national weather service advising that the area of effect has now changed.

A yellow weather warning has been placed in Greater Manchester with heavy rain expected. Downpours have been predicted on Monday for most of the UK with some communities told to prepare for flooding. According to the Met Office, the worst hit areas could see a whopping 80-100 millimetres of rain over the course of 12 to 24 hours.
