Dallas Stars forward Mikko Rantanen’s performance in Game 7 against the Colorado Avalanche not only sent his team to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs but also sparked strong commentary from a former NHL standout.

It wasn’t a handshake line at the end of this remarkable seven-game series for Mikko Rantanen. It was a hug line.

In doing so, Rantanen became the first player in NHL history to score a hat trick in the third period of a Game 7, as well as the first ever to have a 4-point period in back-to-back games.
