The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flash flood risk alert for much of the Mid-Atlantic region, warning residents of widespread showers and thunderstorms expected to bring heavy rainfall from Thursday afternoon through Thursday night.

The communities in Oakland and Wayne County affected by the flash flood warning until 11:15 p.m. include Livonia, Southfield, Novi, Canton, Northville, Westland, Farmington Hills, Farmington, Plymouth and Redford, according to the weather service.

A flash flood warning has been issued on Wednesday for the South Fork Burn Scar area in Lincoln County, according to the NWS. This warning is anticipated to remain in effect until 7:30 p.m. Some locations expected to experience this flooding include Ruidoso,
