Shocking footage showed the moment a K-9 dog was cradled by officers onto a helicopter for medical treatment after he was shot twice in the line of duty. Just before 5 p.m., Rocky alerted law enforcement sweeping the area to the dumpster, said Houston Police Chief Noe Diaz. When officers opened it up, Rocky jumped inside and found Davis hiding under "tons" of trash, said Diaz.

Rocky, was shot while assisting in the apprehension of a suspect linked to the death of Deputy Jesus Vargas. After receiving emergency medical care, Rocky is on the mend and expected to return to duty.

The U.S. Marshal K-9 shot during a manhunt on Wednesday was released from the animal hospital Friday. He narrowly escaped death and is credited with saving lives. Rocky was shot twice, through the nostril and the neck.

"Rocky" is still recovering after being shot in the line of duty on Wednesday during a manhunt for a deputy's killer. But there is some good news regarding his condition.
