Wisconsin voters will choose a new State Supreme Court justice in an election that will determine whether liberals retain a 4-to-3 majority or whether conservatives take control of the state’s judiciary. Wisconsin voters on Tuesday delivered Democrats their biggest boost since President Donald Trump returned to power, handing liberals a state Supreme Court majority and defying Elon Musk’s record-shattering effort to bolster a conservative Trump acolyte.

Voters will decide whether to amend the Wisconsin Constitution to require photo identification to vote. Wisconsin law already requires voters to show identification, but passage of this Republican-backed ballot question would make it harder for that requirement to be removed by the courts or the legislature.

The April 1 election in Wisconsin includes a state Supreme Court and superintendent election, a referendum on voter ID and plenty of local races.
