Archaeologists have found an ancient tomb carved into bedrock beneath an unassuming ... One of the rock tomb’s walls features a relief sculpture of a reclining man leaning on his elbow.

The petroglyphs, called “one of the most awe-inspiring and intriguing things to see” by Eastern Sierra, are located in the Volcanic Tableland near Bishop, California, about 80 miles east of Fresno.

The centerpiece of the tomb is a carved relief on one of the tomb’s walls of a reclining man resting on his left arm , a possible “banquet pose” that is a common in ancient funerary art.
