The iconic black-and-white checkered flag signals the end of the race. Once waved, all drivers have one last chance to push to the finish line, thereby finishing the race under normal circumstances.

The most-seen Puerto Rican flag is red, white and blue; however, the black-and-white flag was at the vendor stands at the festival on Parcel 5. One vendor told us it is a universal flag of protest.
