The safety board issued recommendations as part of its ongoing investigation into the collapse of Baltimore’s Key Bridge last year after it was hit by a ship.

The Maryland Transportation Authority did not conduct a risk assessment that, if acted upon, could have allowed the state to protect the Francis Scott Key Bridge from collapsing, the National Transportation Safety Board’s chair said Thursday.

The bridges include iconic landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Mackinac Bridge.
