COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) has a new look. On Monday, SCDE unveiled a new logo which they said recognizes the agency’s history.

That changed Thursday, when the school’s board of trustees voted to replace the mascot with the Mighty Banyan, a flexing cartoon tree based on a design by first-year student Anna Lazzara.
