Manchester United have booked their place in the Europa League semi-final after a scarcely believable period of extra time. Lyon, having gone down to 10 men, scored twice to give themselves a 6-4 lead but, as United had done before them, the French side capitulated.

Manchester United’s season isn’t done yet. On a night of high drama at Old Trafford, the troubled Premier League club put its domestic problems to one side by sealing a spectacular comeback to beat Lyon 5-4 and advance to the semifinals of the Europa League.

We will face Bodø/Glimt in the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League. The Norwegian side advanced from the quarter-final stage after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Lazio this evening (Thursday 17 April). Having led 2-0 from the first leg in Norway, the visitors lost 3-1 at Stadio Olimpico before winning the resulting penalty shootout 3-2.
