It wasn’t just the quote that gives a nod to Kirby. The Fantastic Four of the MCU are from a different, retro-futurist Earth than most of the movies in the canon. The Earth is designated Earth 828. The final tribute reveals Kirby’s birth and death dates Aug. 28, 1917 to Feb. 6, 1994. 8/28 becomes Earth 828.

When it was announced that Paul Walter Hauser had joined the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, fans immediately began to speculate that he might be playing the first foe the team ever faced on the page, Mole Man.

Whenever a highly anticipated comic book film is released, toy manufacturers often reveal the looks of the main heroes and villains before they appear on the big screen. And like clockwork, Hot Toys has carried on that tradition by revealing The Fantastic Four: First Steps ‘ Galactus in all his celestial glory.

The first attempt at making a film about the superheroes was an extremely low-budget affair that was shot, abandoned and mostly forgotten about in the 1990s.

Maybe “superhero fatigue” is a thing of the past – with DC’s “Superman” still soaring in theaters, Marvel’s “Fantastic Four” reboot is set to join the fun this weekend, with positive momentum.
