SAN DIEGO (AP) — George Lucas is finally coming to the stage at Comic-Con. And while “Star Wars” is sure to get a mention, the 81-year-old is making his debut appearance at the San Diego pop cultural extravaganza for a more earthbound reason: a preview of his long-in-the-works Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles.

Filmmaking legend George Lucas made an appearance at Comic-Con International for the first time ever on Sunday, where he shared some of his perspectives about humanity, society and storytelling as part of a preview for his new Los Angeles museum that will be dedicated to narrative art.

George Lucas made his debut at San Diego Comic-Con on July 27 2025, unveiling a preview of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, scheduled to open in 2026. The event, held in Hall H, marked the first detailed public presentation of the museum’s collection and concept, which Lucas described as “a temple to the people.”
