Click the "Background" tab and select "Graphic" from the "As" menu. Click the "Browse" button, select your background image and click the "Open" button. Select a graphic option in the "Type" section.

Switch to the "Background" tab and make your selection from the "Fill" drop-down menu. You can use a solid color, a gradient, a hatching pattern or a bitmap image as the background to a slide.
