Not that eating well is the only reason to turn your back on Amalfi’s coast and head south through Cilento – a trip made easier by the recent opening of Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport.

A much more pleasant alternative to the car is to take the train to Salerno and from there catch a ferry to Amalfi or Positano. The public SITA bus is a good way of travelling along the coast road.
