Step aside Statue of Liberty! Texas has a statue of liberty of its own. However, what some may not know is that the goddess currently holding her star over our fair city is not the original.
The statue is modeled after the Roman goddess of liberty, Libertas. Her left hand has an inscription in Roman numbers of the date the U.S. Declaration of Independence was signed.
