A homeless woman dubbed 'the roof ninja' had been living inside a grocery store's sign in Midland, Michigan for a year when she was discovered.

The woman, whose name was not released, told police she had a job elsewhere but had been living inside the Family Fare sign for roughly a year, Warren said. She was found April 23.

The woman had made herself at home inside the top portion of the triangle-shaped sign, which was accessible through a small door, according to the AP and USA Today.

Warren told BI that it was unclear how the woman accessed the roof. However, he said that once on the roof she was able to enter the inside of the sign using a 3'x4' access door.
