Joel William Kawahara went missing last week after departing from his home alone aboard the fishing vessel. Coast Guard crews found the vessel.

The U.S. Coast Guard employed a Navy MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter to fire at and disable a smuggling vessel in the Eastern Pacific.

Two people were rescued uninjured Monday afternoon after their small plane crashed near the Katzehin River flats outside Haines. The U.S. Coast Guard was notified around 4 p.m. Monday that a plane had gone down near the Chilkoot Inlet, just south of Haines.

Maine Senator Angus King says the U.S. Coast Guard has agreed to a delay. The Coast Guard also plans to extend a stakeholder engagement process. They'll try to better understand people's concerns. Their plan called for removing 351 coastal buoys across New England, including 150 in Maine.

(FOX 9) - On Saturday night, four girls between the ages of 8 and 14 found themselves stranded on a cold, dark rock formation in Lake Superior. Their parents called 911, explaining that the girls used paddle boards to reach an island, but lost their paddles, and became stranded.

The Miami Yacht Club and the Youth Sailing Foundation will continue to offer their space as a place where parents and children touched by this tragedy can journey together toward healing.”

A retired U.S. Coast Guard HU-25 Guardian jet is set to be airlifted to the Tillamook Air Museum in a joint operation with the U.S. Marine Corps.
