On Tuesday, the SEC-focused Twitter account The Next Round shared each conference team's chances of qualifying for the College Football Playoff based on ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI). The Auburn Tigers have been given the eighth-best odds at 21.8 percent despite finishing third-to-last in the SEC last season.

Memphis is ranked No. 65 in FPI. That's slightly below No. 58, where the Tigers finished the 2024 season. FBI gives Memphis a 87.7 percent chance to make a bowl game and a 14.9 percent chance to win the AAC. That's second in the conference behind Tulane, which FPI gives a 45.4 percent chance to win the conference.
