Divya Deshmukh scripted history on Monday, defeating Koneru Humpy at the FIDE Women’s Chess World Cup final, and also became India’s 88th Grandmaster. She defeated Humpy in an all-Indian final which also went to tie-breaks and Divya ended up winning 1.

In a recent interview with FIDE, India’s Divya Deshmukh revealed that the team behind her historic Women’s World Cup triumph comprises Hungarian GM Csaba Balogh and Indian GM Abhimanyu Puranik.

Divya Deshmukh is the new women's chess World Cup winner, after she beat Koneru Humpy in the tie-breaks in the final on Monday evening to win the crown. In the process, Divya also became India's 88th Grandmaster -- just the fourth Indian woman to achieve that title.
