A federal judge in New York early Saturday temporarily restricted the ability of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency to access the Treasury Department payment system, saying that doing so was necessary to prevent the potential disclosure of sensitive and confidential information.

Those records contain personal data such as Social Security and bank account numbers for millions of Americans.
