A 78-year-old Marine veteran was identified as the pilot killed when the private jet — owned by Mötley Crüe lead singer Vince Neil — he was flying crashed into another plane on the runway at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona Monday afternoon.

Joie Vitosky, 78, was certified as a flight engineer since 1978 and a pilot since 2019, according to FAA records.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — One of two pilots died on a private jet owned by Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil after the aircraft veered off a runway in Arizona and hit a business jet, according to a Federal Aviation Administration incident report.

Vitosky, 78, was a Marine veteran who had six decades of experience under his belt and had been flying Neil for years. In an interview with the Arizona Republic, his daughter, Jana Schertzer, credited her father's skill with saving the lives of the rest of the people onboard.
