Ledecky won the 800 meters on Saturday at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, fending off challenges from 18-year-old rising star Summer McIntosh of Canada and Australia’s Lani Pallister, to continue her 13-year dominance in the distance.

Ledecky held off Lani Pallister and Summer McIntosh in a tight race Saturday to win gold and extend her reign in the 800-meter freestyle.

Ledecky won with a time of 8:05.62, both a world championships record and the fourth fastest time in the history of the 800m free. Pallister wasn't far behind (8:05.98), with McIntosh claiming bronze (8:07.29).
