Rory McIlroy entered the 2025 Scottish Open needing to regain the top-tier form he flashed earlier in the year when he won three tournaments, including the Masters, which secured his career grand slam.

Scottie Scheffler hasn't had the tournament he would have liked so far at the Scottish Open, but he still feels he has a chance to win, and he made that known.

Rory McIlroy described the Scottish Open as "my first realistic chance to win since the Masters" after his third-round 66 moved him into a share of the lead at The Renaissance Club. The Northern Irishman clinched a career Grand Slam at Augusta in April, but is without a victory since.

Robert MacIntyre won the 2024 Gensis Scottish Open. The Scottish native finished 18 under par, beating second place by 1 stroke. MacIntyre returns to defend his homeland championship. He is currently ranked 14 on the Official World Golf Rankings.

In 2024, MacIntyre became the first Scot to win the Scottish Open since Colin Montgomery in 1999. MacIntyre won with a score of 18-under, one stroke ahead of Adam Scott.
