In game No. 105 of the season, Rob Thomson threw out a tinkered lineup for the Phillies' series finale against the Yankees.

J.T. Realmuto followed the Yankees' ninth error in four games with a tiebreaking, three-run drive in a four-run seventh inning, lifting the Phillies over New York 12-5 on Friday night.

Phillies third baseman Edmundo Sosa left Saturday’s win over the Yankees following a collision with outfielder Brandon Marsh while catching a popup. According to the team, Sosa suffered a back contusion and will be evaluated further.

After the bullpen gave up 10 earned runs in a 12–5 loss, the team optioned right-hander Scott Effross and infielder Jorbit Vivas to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, opening two roster spots ahead of Saturday’s game at Yankee Stadium.

Giancarlo Stanton hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning and newly-acquired third baseman Ryan McMahon made a spectacular diving backhand stop and long throw for an out and got his first hit in pinstripes.

The Phillies blew it open in the seventh. Edmundo Sosa - who was later involved in an ugly collision with Brandon Marsh on a pop up - hit a two-run home run to make it 7-1, and then Kyle Schwarber (5-10 with six RBIs in the series) added a two-run double to push the lead to 9-1.
