The Juan Soto effect has already begun to take shape for the New York Mets, with his first spring training start setting a new viewership record.

As Juan Soto, in his first workout with the Mets, participated in conditioning drills, fans stood behind a chain-link fence and called his name.

Soto homered off of Houston Astros pitcher Colton Gordon during the bottom of the first inning, giving him the first home run of his time with the Mets. “Get used to it,” the team account shared on social media after Soto homered.
