Swedish police said on Monday they had opened an investigation into suspected sabotage after power cables to a pump supplying the Baltic Sea island of Gotland with water were intentionally disconnected.

Police have cordoned off the area around the infrastructure in order to carry out a crime scene investigation.

Swedish police said on Friday they were investigating a suspected case of sabotage of an undersea telecoms cable in the Baltic Sea, and the country’s coast guard deployed a vessel to the area where multiple seabed cables have been damaged in recent months.
