The Batman 2 director Matt Reeves has confirmed that the sequel will start filming this year, offering some reassurance to fans after the announcement of a new delay in the production. Last month, Warner Bros revealed the film's release date has been pushed back a full year, and it's now set to open in theaters on October 1, 2027.

At this year’s Golden Globe Awards, Reeves spoke to Deadline about progress on The Batman II. Though he couldn’t reveal anything about the plot, he did offer an optimistic update.

The Batman 2 delay was announced just towards the end of 2024, pushing the film from October 2026 to October 2027. The film, which stars Robert Pattinson is the sequel to the $772 million USD grossing 2022 movie. Watch Reeves’ full interview below.
