Trump is exploring unconventional ways to rescue TikTok from a nationwide ban, arguing it will help him reach an adoring audience throughout his second term.

The law—which prohibits U.S. app stores from hosting TikTok unless Chinese parent company ByteDance divests from it—is scheduled to take effect one day before Trump’s Jan. 2

The move is under discussion as the Chinese-owned app faces a Sunday deadline to find a new buyer or shut down in the United States.
