Former Denver Nuggets general manager Calvin Booth and coach Michael Malone reportedly had a dispute over Russell Westbrook before getting fired on Tuesday.

Now reports are emerging from the fallout, and The Athletic trio of Tony Jones, Sam Amick and Zach Powell revealed how Booth and Malone had multiple disagreements, including the head coach's decision to play veteran Russell Westbrook over third-year guard Jalen Pickett.

In essence, Booth wanted Malone to play the young guys he drafted, like Jalen Pickett and Peyton Watson, but Malone has long been more inclined to trust his veterans. Specifically, Russell Westbrook, who has been getting the minutes Booth would have preferred go to Pickett and has had a rough go of late.
