The Texas State Capitol and surrounding grounds are temporarily closed to the public on the afternoon of Saturday, June 14 after the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed the agency had fielded a "credible threat" targeting state lawmakers attending the No Kings, Kick Out the Clowns protest slated for later in the evening.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says it has arrested a man in connection with the threats that were made against state lawmakers who planned to attend protests at the Texas Capitol.

Authorities have confirmed that Minnesota State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, were shot and killed inside their Brooklyn Park home.
