Yellowstone National Park's oldest and hottest geothermal area, a favorite spot for park visitors, was shaken by a minor earthquake Tuesday evening.

N​early 75% of the country is at risk for a potentially damaging earthquake, according to a recently updated USGS map.

Another earthquake of a relatively minor 2.0 magnitud e was recorded overnight in approximately the same spot as Monday’s 3.8-magnitude quake off the coast of Maine, according to the United State Geological Survey.

The United States Geologic Survey (USGS) reported a 2.0 magnitude earthquake occurred about 6 miles southeast of York Harbor. This was the same area where a 3.8 magnitude earthquake shook parts of Maine on Monday.

A magnitude 3.9 earthquake occurred near Norris Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park on January 28 at about 6:00 p.m. MST.

Experts said we see earthquakes like the one that hit Monday only once every several years or so, and when we see something this strong, we can feel it for miles.

Another, smaller earthquake was reported off the coast of Maine overnight. The 2.0-magnitude earthquake occurred around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday off the coast of York, Maine, about the same location as Monday’s 3.
