Dobson did not participate in Tuesday’s practice at Northwell Health Ice Center and the team announced he was dealing with a lower-body injury suffered in Monday night’s 3-1 win over the Blue Jackets at UBS Arena. The Islanders said there was no timetable yet for Dobson’s recovery.
While adding a player like Palmieri could address immediate needs, it won’t be simple for the Kings. Right now, Los Angeles has $10.9 million in cap space. Once Drew Doughty is activated from LTIR, however, that space will evaporate as Doughty carries a cap hit of $11 million.
The New York Islanders are stuck at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and, in theory, should be sellers at the March 7 trade deadline. General manager Lou Lamoriello, however, is not ready to throw in the towel just yet.
