A proposed bill in Mississippi proposes certifying bounty hunters to support the Trump administration’s illegal immigration crackdown on a local level.

A Mississippi bill that would have rewarded bounty hunters money to help catch undocumented immigrants has died in the state legislature. Bounty hunters would have received $1,000 to help Immigration and Customs Enforcement in deporting people from Mississippi.

The bill would have created a program that paid $1,000 to certified bounty hunters who assisted with a successful deportation.
