A bankruptcy judge on Wednesday approved Rite Aid’s pharmacy asset sales to a variety of buyers. Purchase prices were not disclosed.

Walgreens Boots Alliance announced in October 2024 its plans to close approximately 1,200 stores across the United States as the pharmacy chain struggles with slumping consumer spending. At the time, the chain said the closures would occur within three years, starting with about 500 stores being shuttered in fiscal year 2025, which ends in August.

One hundred and fifty-one stores are on the latest closings list that Rite Aid announced in a bankruptcy filing on Friday. The stores are located in California, Delaware, Idaho, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington. Forty-three of the stores are located in the Keystone State.
