Middlesbrough Bus Station is to close for £1.5m worth of refurbishment work. The work to improve its accessibility will begin on Monday 16 July and is expected to last four to six weeks.

A Middlesbrough Council spokesman said: “Shortly after 3.30pm on Sunday, a visitor to the bus station was seen to leave a suitcase in the Express Lounge before leaving the building.
