Lawmakers from both parties support scrapping Oregon's wildfire hazard map four years after devastating fires, saying it failed to accurately assess risk.

A bill that would eliminate a controversial Oregon wildfire hazard map moved one step closer to reality on Tuesday.

The wildfire hazard map, created by Senate Bill 762 in 2021, was meant to identify areas in Oregon with high wildfire risk.
