The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office said Friday morning that an evacuation order for low-lying areas on the Russian River prompted by stormy weather earlier this week has been downgraded to an evacuation warning.

The Russian River in Sonoma Couty reached moderate flood stage Wednesday and was expected to peak. People in low-lying areas were told to evacuate last night, but some residents have stayed put and are now stuck in their homes waiting for the water to subside.

Locations impacted by the evacuation order include Mirabel Park Resort and Mirabel Trailer Park in Forestville; Johnsons Resort, Parkers Resort, Creekside Resort and Riverside Park in Guerneville; and Old Bohemian Highway in Monte Rio.
