The Pittsburgh Steelers made star outside linebacker T.J. Watt the NFL’s highest-paid defensive player on Thursday, signing him to a pact that will keep the perennial All-Pro in black-and-gold well into his 30s.
T he news broke on Thursday that the Pittsburgh Steelers and edge defender T.J. Watt had agreed to terms on a new contract. The contract was announced as a three-year extension that adds $123 million to the last year of Watt's old contract.
Watt has landed a three-year, $123MM extension, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. The pact includes $108MM in full guarantees. With an average annual value of $41MM, Watt has once again claimed the title of the league’s top earner for defensive players and all non-quarterbacks.
