AS Monaco edged out Aston Villa 1-0 at home in the Champions League on Tuesday, thanks to an early goal from Wilfried Singo, to secure the Ligue 1 side their first win of the year.

Aston Villa suffered a blow to their hopes of securing a place in the top eight of the Champions League after losing 1-0 away at Monaco. Wilfried Singo’s header in the eighth minute proved the different at the Stade Louis II as an underwhelming Villa side lost for the second time of their European campaign.

Richard: First half wasn't bad. The second half, particularly after Jhon Duran came on to partner Ollie Watkins, was devoid of any creativity and drive from Villa. Monaco did well to crowd the midfield. Predicting an end-to-end, raucous finale against Celtic full of goals, but will it be enough?
