More fans voted for Bo Nix than Patrick Mahomes for the Pro Bowl. Denver’s rookie QB could end up as an alternate for the all-star game.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — When Bo Nix tied the Broncos record last month for touchdowns thrown by a rookie quarterback in a season, coach Sean Payton’s first reaction was to go hunting for chops to bust. “We’re hitting these milestones and I just have to give (John) Elway a hard time,” Payton said at the time. “Like, ‘What the heck?'”

Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II and outside linebacker Nik Bonitto finished as the leaders in fan voting at their respective positions for the Pro Bowl Games. The NFL announced Tuesday the top-10 finishers at each position.

That led to one of the most iconic playoff games in team history, with Tebow hitting the late Demaryius Thomas on a slant that he took to the house on the first play of overtime to vanquish the defending AFC-champion Pittsburgh Steelers. The 2024 Broncos don't want to take any chances.
